Splattered Ink
After the Rain
The round, soft and moist, caking the soles of my feet with mud
Sidewalks, stained with water,
Worms, rising out of the wet soil,
Inching along the concrete, saluting the damp air. Cars, driving fast along the streets,
Spraying passersby with water.
Breathing in the smell of earth and mud, with every step I take.
I taste the salty air on my lips.
The cool breeze whipping around my head.,
My hair, a crown of tangles and knots.
Children laughing, playing in puddle,
Colorful rain boots up to the knees in water.
Trickling out of pipes, water dripping on the ground, causing puddles.
An arch of saturated colors reaching across the sky.
A rainbow.
After the rain.
